Mandy Wagoner of East Gaston High and Morgan Wilson of Northwest School of the Arts were awarded the second annual Mary Doctor Performing Arts Scholarship.  They will each receive a $10,000 from The Doctor Family Foundation.

Both recipients participated in the Broadway Experience March 25-27, which is funded by The Doctor Family Foundation. They saw “Wonderland” and “War Horse,” the 2011 Tony Award® winner for Best Play.  They got backstage tours at theaters, toured popular New York City attractions and met with producer Kristin Caskey of FOX Theatricals and casting director Megan Larche.

“This scholarship has, and will make it possible for me to start to bring my dreams into reality,” said Wilson.

“This scholarship gives me the chance to achieve my dreams of becoming a theater teacher and one day being able to show my students how, with hard work and enough passion, they can reach their goals,” said Wagoner

Wagoner will attend the University of North Carolina Greensboro to study Theater Education, and Wilson will attend The Boston Conservatory to continue her study in Dance.
