Wordless Wednesday: Frank Capra Directs “It’s a Wonderful Life”

November 16, 2011

Today’s Wordless Wednesday celebrates the lauded film classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” directed by the great Frank Capra.

Now, imagine “It’s a Wonderful Life” as a radio play.  And ask yourself, “What would happen if the actors hired to play the various roles didn’t show up?  That’s the premise of  Live From WVL Radio Theatre: It’s a Wonderful Life, returning to the Queen City following last year’s successful run.

It’s Christmas Eve, 1945, and only a handful of radio actors have braved the blizzard to perform that evening’s broadcast of “It’s a Wonderful Life” and keep the radio station afloat. This clever stage adaptation breathes new life into the poignant story of George Bailey and Bedford Falls.

You’ll be amazed at how four actors pull off ALL the different roles.  And just wait until you see the creativity used in coming up with the various sound effects for the radio play!  Plus, all seating for the show is on the Booth Playhouse stage, creating a behind-the-scenes atmosphere that is not to be missed.
