Tuesday Tune: “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra

April 10, 2012

Today’s Tuesday Tune is a classic!

If you’re looking to fall in love with a show this season, COME FLY AWAY promises to fly you to the moon on the voice of the one and only Frank Sinatra and the stunning choreography of Twyla Tharp (Movin’ Out).

This one-of-a-kind experience combines the seductive vocals of “Ol’ Blue Eyes” with the sizzling sound of a live on-stage big band and the visceral thrill of Tharp’s choreography.   Hearing ‘that voice,’ you forget for a moment that Frank Sinatra isn’t live on stage.  That’s how skillfully this mesmerizing production has combines a live, 14-piece big band with recordings of some of Sinatra’s most famous songs.  The result is a score that will have you humming along from start to finish with this Broadway spectacular coming May 1-6 to the Belk Theater.

As 15 world-class dancers tell the story of four couples falling in and out of love, you will experience the exhilaration of a first kiss, the excitement of a first dance and the bittersweet moments of a first goodbye.

COME FLY AWAY features a score of beloved Sinatra classics including “My Way,” “New York, New York,” “Makin’ Whoopee” and today’s Tuesday Tune, “Fly Me to the Moon.”
