Make a Memory with Mom: A Broadway Tradition

May 9, 2012

Jenny and Debbie Kaemmerlen

In honor of Mother’s Day, Blumenthal staff members and others are sharing their favorite theater memories that involve their Moms.

My mother and I started going to Broadway shows together when I was in elementary school. The first show she took me to was Cats at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, and later we got subscription tickets at the Peace Center and even took trips to NYC a few times to take in shows. My mother always picked the best seats — we were in the first few rows of the Belk Theater for Miss Saigon and I loved watching the helicopter. Some of the strongest memories I have with my mother is her crying during every production—RENT, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera. I always have to pack extra Kleenexes when my mom and I go see a show together.

Make a memory with your Mom this Mother’s Day!
