Michael McDonald

Yes, you read that correctly. Keep reading to find out more …

Michael McDonald joined legendary rock group The Doobie Brothers in 1975 and has one of the most recognizable voices in the music industry. His sultry, soulful pipes lend themselves to a sound some might say is “smooth like butter.” He has won five Grammy awards including the 1979 Song of the Year and Record of the Year for The Doobie Brothers’ hit “What a Fool Believes,” which was co-written by Kenny Loggins of “Footloose” fame.

Releasing solo albums, collaborating with other notable artists like Loggins and Patti Labelle and appearing in multiple Doobie Brothers reunions, the “blue-eyed soul” singer has remained active in the music industry for nearly 40 years.

In March 2013, McDonald joined Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon for an outstanding performance of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” Watch the video below to see him join in a little lighthearted, side-splitting fun while Timberlake and Fallon imitate his signature look and sound.

Michael McDonald takes the stage in Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m! Buy tickets now!

Watch the video below to see McDonald perform “What a Fool Believes” with Doobie Brothers members Patrick Simmons and Tom Johnson as part of the “Soundstage” television concert series.
