Celtic Thunder

I had the opportunity to visit Northern Ireland in spring 2011 with my university’s concert choir. We performed many places, including the streets of Belfast and Queen’s University. The Irish countryside is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. We visited Dunluce Castle and the Giant’s Causeway on the Antrim Coast. I fell in love with the scenery and became very interested in Irish and Celtic culture. Listening to Celtic Thunder’s music takes me back to those few days I spent in Northern Ireland.

Celtic Thunder is one of the most successful groups to come from Ireland and Northern Ireland, with members from both countries. Composed of six standout male vocalists, the group has visited Charlotte many times, and I was able to see them live the last time they played Belk Theater. Their performance was full of energy, and their talent is undeniable. When they took the stage, the shouts and screams of female audience members made me think I was at an Elvis Presley concert circa 1956.

Celtic Thunder’s new show, Mythology, pays tribute to the group’s ancestors in Ireland, their stories, their legends and their history. Listen to the featured song “The Rocky Road to Dublin” below.

Celtic Thunder Mythology plays Belk Theater at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Monday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. You can expect to hear traditional Celtic tunes, original songs written exclusively for Mythology, and covers of some of your favorite pop classics. Buy tickets now!
