Tuesday Tune: ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Jim Brickman
Jim Brickman brings The Love Tour to Knight Theater on Tuesday, Nov. 19. That night, Brickman will present some of the most classic love songs — songs that make you smile, laugh and sometimes cry. Among them will be the best love song of all time (at least in my opinion) written by legendary singer-songwriter Dolly Parton.
“I Will Always Love You” has truly stood the test of time to be a consistently relevant song, with haunting lyrics and a beautiful melody. It has graced the top of the charts on multiple occasions, first in 1974 with Parton’s original release, second in 1982 when the song was featured on the soundtrack of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and last when Whitney Houston lent her pipes to the tune for The Bodyguard. Parton is the first singer to hit No. 1 with the same song twice, and with Whitney’s version she became the first writer to have a song hit No. 1 three times.
Brickman interprets the classic on his 2011 album “Love.” Listen to his version below.
