Chick Corea brings “Solo Piano” to Knight Theater.

We’re bringing several jazz acts to our stages in 2014 including legendary jazz pianist Chick Corea. With a career spanning more than five decades, it was hard for me to choose just one moment for today’s throwback. So I chose two.

Since Chick will be presenting a solo piano show April 19 in Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts, the first throwback is an impressive 2006 performance of “Armando’s Rhumba” on “Legends of Jazz With Ramsey Lewis” that features just Chick and the ivories. The song was originally released in 1976 on his most critically acclaimed solo album, “My Spanish Heart.” Play the video below to hear his intricate jazz style on the piano and get a taste of what you can expect during his Knight Theater performance in April!

Now, let’s pick up the tempo and step a little further back in time for a performance of “La Fiesta” in 1988. The song was originally released on “Return to Forever,” an album from the jazz fusion group of the same name that earned Chick several Grammy nominations and wins.

Don’t miss Chick Corea: Solo Piano in Knight Theater, Saturday, April 19, at 8 p.m. Buy tickets now!

Jazz fans, don’t miss our other upcoming jazz concerts!
