Tuesday Tune: ‘Used to Love U’ by John Legend

April 8, 2014

John Legend

John Legend is one of my favorite male R&B artists. If I had to rank, I would place him up there right next to Stevie Wonder. I can vividly remember belting out “Ordinary People” and “Used to Love U” while mowing the yard of my rural N.C. home with my portable CD player strapped to my arm. Since then, he has found great success.

The R&B superstar will perform to a rightfully earned SOLD-OUT audience in Belk Theater Sunday, April 13. His “All of Me” tour follows on the heels of the success of his single “All of Me,” a stunning performance at the 2014 Grammy Awards, and U.S. sales of over 406,000 copies of his most recent release, “Love in the Future.”

Imagine the simple staging of Legend behind the piano, a four-piece orchestra and one guitarist performing some of the best R&B songs of the past 10 years. That’s what fans can expect to see. Legend will perform his classics I mentioned above in addition to his favorites off his newest album.

Legend recently performed at Las Vegas’ Smith Center for the Performing Arts and the Las Vegas Sun said:

“All John Legend needs is love, a piano and a microphone … In Legend’s stripped-down acoustic set – he at the piano, plus one guitarist, three violinists and one cellist – he proved that an artist can captivate an audience for nearly 90 minutes without LED screens, dancers and DJs and instead with talent, sincerity and soul.”

If you have your tickets already, congrats and we hope you enjoy the show! If not, don’t miss out on our next sellout! Click HERE to see a list of all of our upcoming concerts and secure your seats today.
