Looking at what’s ahead this week, we have a few shows lined up that are sure to bring tears, laughs and possibly some suspense and surprises!

Starting Friday, Charlotte Squawks X: Ten Carolina Commandments will be making sides hurt, eyes tear up and cheeks hurt from the laughter that is sure to ensue. Playing in the Booth Playhouse, this group of performers will be putting on its 10th edition of ‘squawking’ the latest and greatest of today’s pop culture and politics. Think of it as “Saturday Night Live” meets its Queen City equivalent! The creative dynamic duo of Mike Collins and Brian Khan get together with the city’s most esteemed performers and put on a show that is definitely nothing to squawk at.

Then, playing for one night only is the talented, the impassioned, the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams! Performing in the McGlohon Theater in Spirit Square, Lucinda will deliver a powerful show that will likely make even newcomers want to sing along to her classics. She was named America’s best songwriter in Time magazine and released a string of albums that have been critically acclaimed, including her 1998 breakthrough album “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road,” an album that presented a broad scope of songs that fused rock, blues, country and Americana. Alongside Lucinda will be special guest Kenneth Brian Band, and together they’ll deliver some Southern rock and soul to audiences on Friday night.

If you want a taste of what you’ll be seeing, check out the video below of Lucinda performing live in 1989 on her tour, “Side of the Road.”

Admission is free to anyone and everyone who would enjoy the camaraderie of predicting who will win for each category. While watching the show live on the big screen, enjoy complimentary nonalcoholic beverages and snacks. There also will be prize giveaways, and you can have your photo taken on the red carpet with a real Tony Award! Doors open at 7 p.m.
