Looking Ahead: Charlotte Squawks Still Strong, and Pick Your Seat Night!
I once heard someone say that Monday is just a reminder that the weekend has past, and there are only a few more days before another weekend gets here. Mondays can also be looked at as a new beginning, which means new events are happening this week! And one marvelous show is still going on.
The hilarious and musical antics of Charlotte Squawks X: Ten Carolina Commandments at the Booth Playhouse at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center are still making Charlotte’s audiences crack up more and more with every performance. Poking fun at Queen City pop culture and politics, this group of talented actors led by Mike Collins and Brian Kahn have been selling out shows left and right. You better hurry! With only one week left, you have to move fast to snag tickets so you don’t miss the ‘squawk’ of the town everyone is laughing about! Click here for tickets and performance dates.

If you feel like listening to fresh, new poetry from today’s youths or even finding your hidden artist from within, this weekend would definitely be the time to do it. On Friday in the Knight Gallery at Spirit Square we’ll be putting on the Inked Uprising Youth Poetry Slam featuring teens ages 13-19 who want to show off their knack at rhyming. Then on Saturday, Caroliance Youth Poetry Showcase will feature some of its best poetry before it represents the region at Brave New Voices in Philadelphia. General admission is $10 for Saturday and $5 for Sunday, so come on out and see what the young poets have to offer!
