Friday Giveaway: The Manhattan Transfer 40th Anniversary Celebration
One of the most iconic vocal groups of all time, The Manhattan Transfer, will appear at Knight Theater Friday, Feb. 27, as part of its 40th Anniversary Celebration Tour. The musical mastermind behind the hits “Operator” and “The Boy From New York City,” The Manhattan Transfer originated in New York City in 1974 and has remained popular across the decades, recording with greats like Phil Collins, B.B. King and Tony Bennett.
A 10-time Grammy winner, the group quickly became one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful vocal groups in the world. The album “Vocalese” earned a monumental 12 Grammy nominations in 1985. The group’s a-cappella-meets-jazz fusion approach has created a style that is surely deserving of its celebrity status.
