John Mulaney

Maybe the name John Mulaney sounds vaguely familiar. You’ve definitely seen the face, but perhaps you’re still not convinced that you know who the guy is. One thing’s for certain — you’ve laughed at one of his jokes, especially if you’re a “Saturday Night Live” fan and you’re partial to Weekend Update correspondent Stefon, a character Mulaney helped create with “SNL” actor Bill Hader.

Mulaney, who is coming to Charlotte this month, is an “SNL” writer, sitcom star and stand-up comic who has appeared on shows like “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” He’s also had a critically-acclaimed comedy album and a stand-up special, which was produced by Comedy Central. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for his writing in Justin Timberlake’s opening “SNL” monologue in 2011.

We can neither confirm nor deny, but when “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart announced his departure, Mulaney was one of the names swirling around the rumor mill to be Stewart’s replacement. Regardless of where Mulaney’s career takes off to next, one thing is sure: The guy is funny!

NPR.org pop culture contributor Linda Holmes said, “John Mulaney is probably my favorite stand-up comic currently working.”

Blumenthal Performing Arts and The Comedy Zone are proud to present John Mulaney live at Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts Saturday, March 28, at 8 p.m. Mulaney has been selling out theaters across the nation, so be sure to get your tickets now! Prices start at just $20.
