Tuesday Tune: ‘This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)’ by Natalie Cole
Part of one of music’s most successful dynasties, Natalie Cole has had a career full of hit songs, acting gigs, nine Grammy Awards and countless “unforgettable” moments. Daughter of the legendary singer Nat King Cole, Natalie shot to stardom in 1975 with the release of her first album “Inseparable,” which earned her two Grammy Awards and a No. 1 single with “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).”
Since gaining international stardom Natalie has been featured in dramatic roles on hit shows like “Law and Order” and “Touched By an Angel.” She was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Perhaps the largest milestone of her career came with 1991’s “Unforgettable … With Love,” which featured the touching duet with her late father. That album earned Natalie six Grammy Awards and the top spot on the pop charts, and has sold over 14 million copies worldwide. She looked back on her life with a starring role in the 2001 film Livin’ for Love: The Natalie Cole Story, which was an autobiographical movie based on her book “Angel on My Shoulder.”
In 2011, Natalie joined many other artists to honor David Foster in “Hitman Returns.” The television special featured performances by a variety of artists whose careers have been impacted by Foster. Natalie performed her hit song “This Will Be.” Watch the performance below!
Her most recent release, 2013’s “Natalie Cole en Español,” includes duets with Juan Luis Guerra, Andrea Bocelli and Nat King Cole, as well as musical collaborations with famed instrumentalists Chris Botti, Arturo Sandoval and Arthur Hanlon, and received three Latin Grammy nominations. It’s available now on iTunes and Amazon.
