RAGTIME coming to the Knight Theater Nov. 30!

Ragtime is coming to the Knight Theater Nov. 30-Dec. 3!

At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing … and anything is possible.  Ragtime returns to the road in an all-new touring production. The stories of an upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician unfold in turn-of-the-century New York. All three are united by their desire and belief in a brighter tomorrow. Winning Tony Awards® for best book and best musical score, this 13-time Tony Award-nominated musical is a timeless celebration of life — what it could and should be!

Ragtime takes us back to the Progressive Era, where we will meet historical figures including Henry Ford, Harry Houdini, J.P. Morgan, and Evelyn Nesbit. American novelist and writer of Ragtime, E.L. Doctorow, placed historic characters in fictional situations — a mischievously bold portrayal for the mid-1970s. But Ragtime‘s success was certainly due to the pulsating energy of its music. The syncopated or “ragged” rhythms of this African-American piano style will have you on your feet in no time! From marches to cakewalks and gospel, this musical is a must-see!

Take a look at what some of the critics have said about Ragtime:

“This is a big-brain, bold-strokes, musical-theater, storytelling at its most vibrant.”

“‘Ragtime’ is a sweeping, powerful musical about a restless period in our history. But it is also an intimate story about love, loss and growing up.”

“Surely there are not many opening numbers better than the intoxicating first moments of Ragtime.”
