Interested in learning more about the inner workings of Broadway?  If so, our first Broadway on Tap event is for you! Join us for an exclusive opportunity to sit down with Blumenthal Performing Arts’ President and CEO Tom Gabbard as he discusses current happenings and future projects on Broadway. Learn how the projects affect both Blumenthal and the city of Charlotte and the influential role Blumenthal plays for Broadway in New York. This special event will take place at one of our favorite dining locations, Rí Rá Irish Pub. Light hors d’oeuvres will be offered, and all Blumenthal members will receive one complimentary beverage on us!

Tom Gabbard has been President/CEO of Blumenthal Performing Arts since 2003. The Blumenthal’s 110 employees manage six theaters in Charlotte, hosting over 1,000 performances annually, as well as extensive education programs. During his tenure the Blumenthal has become one of the Top 10 markets for touring Broadway shows in North America.  He is a co-producer/investor in dozens of productions for Broadway, Off-Broadway, national tour and London’s West End, including Legally Blonde, Porgy & Bess, Frost/Nixon, The Color Purple, Matilda, Cinderella, Disgraced, The Mountaintop, If/Then, Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands and Sleeping Beauty, West Side Story and Ragtime.  He produced the New York run and national tour of TRACES, and the national tour of 9 to 5. He received Tony Awards as a co-producer/investor of Monty Python’s Spamalot, Thoroughly Modern Millie, La Cage aux Folles, RED, Pippin and Kinky Boots.  He is a leader in developing partnerships between the UK and US, working on over 20 UK/US transfers and London productions.  He holds an MBA in Arts Management from Golden Gate University, as well as a BA in Music Performance from Pepperdine University where he also attended Law School. He has been a lecturer in arts management at Davidson College.
